Using a surface marker buoy to mark your position may not always be practical. Risks of entanglement, wind and surface conditions causing excessive drag and over exertion are always a consideration. The effective way to mark your surfacing location, give yourself a clear reference for mid-mater ascents and safety stops is by using a Delayed Surface Marker Buoy and reel. What do I need to start?

During your PADI DSMB Distinctive Speciality course, you'll learn DSMB dive procedures, techniques, planning, organisation and potential problems. You'll also be introduced to the variety of different reels, DSMB's and their use. You'll put these into practice during your three open water dives. How long will it take?
